Take care of it

Aftercare

Healing is half the tattoo. Follow this and it will settle the way it looked on the day. This is general guidance - if anything worries you, message the studio, and if you think it may be infected, see a doctor.

Tattoo Aftercare

Keep It Clean
Wash your hands before touching your new tattoo. Remove the dressing when advised by your artist, then gently wash the tattoo with lukewarm water and a mild, fragrance-free soap. Pat dry with clean paper towel, don’t rub.

Keep It Light
Once dry, apply a very thin layer of the aftercare product recommended by your artist. Don’t smother the tattoo, your skin needs to breathe.

While It Heals
Some redness, tenderness, light swelling, flaking and itching can be normal. Don’t pick, scratch or peel it. Let any flakes or scabs come away naturally.

For Around 2 Weeks
Avoid swimming, baths, hot tubs and saunas. Showers are fine. Avoid soaking the tattoo and minimise friction from tight or dirty clothing.

Keep It Out of the Sun
Avoid direct sun while your tattoo is healing. Once fully healed, protect it with a high-SPF sunscreen to help keep it looking its best.
